Classic Contemporary Italian Furniture
Opera Contemporary is a classic-contemporary furniture brand under the furniture-making powerhouse, Angelo Cappelini & C. Its humble beginnings can be traced as far back as 1886, where the founder Enrico Cappelini founded a small wood-working shop in Brianza, Italy. It is interesting to note that as early as 1897, Enrico Ceppelini would be one of early adopters of artisan exhibitions in Italy, showing his incredible foresight in how artisans will play a huge role in forming industries locally, and eventually internationally. However, it was his grandson Angello Cappelini who would eventually propel this humble family company, to the furniture brand and company it is known for today.

For most of its history, Angelo Cappelini & C. focused on classic furniture, with emphasis on the heritage and traditional methods of Italian furniture craftsmanship. The company gained its reputation for the quality of creating pieces that are loyal to the main historical European styles - Baroque, Louis XV, Louis XVI and Empire– all of these being the iconic aesthetic of royalty at the time. Much of these old-world techniques, styles and methods are still kept within their rich archives, making Angelo Cappellini & C. treasure for furniture and interior history even. Angelo Cappelini & C. is also one of the most senior participants of Salon de Mobile, the international furniture exhibition in Milan, founded in 1961; by 2022, Angelo Cappelini & C has officially been awarded for at least 50 years of support and participation at Salone de Mobile, a testament to the company’s continued values and efforts in promoting Italian artisans and its furniture-making industry.
By 2010, Angelo Cappellini & C. has set its sights on expansion, not just globally but also in technology and aesthetic; hence the creation of Opera Contemporary, the first classic furniture brand to venture into the contemporary space. With its unique mix of old-world charm, and modern techniques, interpretations and innovations, Opera Contemporary has an aesthetic like no other.

Like many contemporary style furnitures, its lines are clean and flowing, allowing for the minimalist look. But some interpretations and accents are also more embellished, intricate and plush for that maximalist luxury. Using materials of wood (the company maintains its heritage for exceptional woodworking), glass, marble, velvet and many other upholstery options, Opera Contemporary pieces are filled with such character, perfect for the opulent and stylish clientele. At Moda Interni, pieces of Opera Contemporary are a favorite in giving spaces a more romantic appeal, a good change or delineation from the standard modern styles today. It certainly makes for interesting statement pieces for the home!
